Dr. PD Christina Märzhäuser
Working with languages has always been my dream – and I'm happy to live this dream as translator & interpreter, linguist, and language teacher since 2001.
Zu meinem akademischen & beruflichen Werdegang:
After a diploma for translation (German-English, AKAD Stuttgart) and an MA (Romance linguistics, Educational sciences, Interculturelle communication) I completed my PhD in Theoretical and Applied Linguistic (Co-tutelle LMU / FLUC Coimbra) and post-graduate 'Habilitation' in Romance linguistics (LMU).
Since 2007 I have been teaching and doing research at various universities in Germany and abroad, e.g. FAU Erlangen, Uni Mannheim, Uni Augsburg, Uni Wien, UNICV (Praia, Cabo Verde), Universidade do Minho (Braga, Portugal), UC Berkeley and USP (São Paulo).
Since 2001, I have also been working as freelance translator and as lecturer & trainer in different educational contexts, ranging from kindergarten, primary & secondary schools to adult education and universities.
It is still just as exciting and enriching for me to have a close look at encounters of people with different languages, cultural experiences and socialization, to see how we work, study and live together on a daily basis!
In my work, my personal experience of migrating combines with academic and educational expertise: Our family home is in Portugal since 1996, so I'm a migrant commuting back and forth between the two countries to earn money where it's more profitable: in Germany or online ...
As a linguist I'm currently doing research on Antonio da Costa Peixoto’s (1731/1741) Obra nova de Língua Geral de Mina, in Zusammenarbeit mit Prof. Enrique Rodrigues-Moura (Universität Bamberg).
I continue to teach as PD lecturer at LMU and as a visting researcher or speaker. My teaching in the field of Romance Languages/Linguistics (Portuguese, French, Spanish) as well as my linguistic research especially focusses on
- Multilingualism and bilingual education
- Contact linguistics & creole languages
- Migration & language contact
- Linguistic analysis of song texts
- Nominal determination, reference & syntactic-semantic analysis of noun phrases.
Please send an e-mail to my LMU university email to inquire about my classes, availability as visiting professor, including for university courses including student workshops for applied linguistics and fieldwork, e.g. Elos Portugal – Brasil (LMU 2012) (LMU 2012) You're welcome to contact me for collaboration in research!
